Hunter
I remember it was a cool October night and your mom, Haley, was getting restless. She went to the basement door and squatted and your dad (Keith) let her out. Suddenly here he comes crying, holding this little bundle of yellow fur saying it was dead. I took you and put you in the box and your mom threw paper on you. Next thing I knew I heard this little whimper. We always laughed and said your mom dumped you in the backyard hence the nickname “Dump”. It is hard to believe that was 10 years ago. Where did all the time go? Yesterday you were just a puppy. We went to the cabin this weekend and we thought of you swimming in the creek. You wouldn’t go up the steps but would swim the creek and run up the hill. Thinking of that made me smile.
Hunter, how am I going to know when the UPS man is coming, long before he comes down the road? I hope you taught Chance how to handle the man in brown. Who will protect us from the dreaded meter man? I’m sure you taught Storm and Chance well. Who is going to knock us down to get in the house when there is a thunderstorm? Hunter there is no more pain where you are. You can run, romp, and play. There are also no thunderstorms, just rainbows. There is no pain, no trouble breathing, no sadness. Don’t run around the houses too fast and into the doghouse. Remember the walls of the doghouse doesn’t give. lol
I will always cherish our last ride together to the vet. I sat in the back with you and I was crying because you had to go. You gently put your head on my arm to let me know it was alright and you were tired and needed to go. I held you when you were moments old and I held you as you left this world. Putting you out of pain was the last thing I could do for you. You always gave me peace by putting your head in my lap and looking up at me. Wait for us because one day we will meet you again. You will always live in our hearts and memories.
Your Family,
Cheryl, Keith, and Ian
